Hepburn Library of Waddington – Library Director

The Hepburn Library of Waddington is currently accepting resumes for the position of Library Director. This part time (29 hours per week) position reports directly to the Board of Trustees. The Library Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Library operations. The candidate must demonstrate computer proficiency, provide excellent customer service, and possess at least 2 academic years of study at an approved college or university. A quaint library located in Waddington, NY near the St. Lawrence River. The Hepburn Library of Waddington was built in 1919 with funds donated by A. Bart Hepburn. The library received a charter from New York State in 1921. It is a member of the North Country Library System. We are a thriving community library.

SALARY: $48,302 – $60,438

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: There is no residency requirement for this examination.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: This position involves responsibility for basic level librarian duties. The Librarian I may serve as the head of a functional area of the library such as Teen Space, Genealogy, or the Children’s area. Employees in this class are expected to perform specific applications of professional duties under the general supervision of the Library Director. Performs related work as required . MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s Degree in Library Science from a library that is accredited by the American Library Association. These requirements must be met on or before the date of the exam.

Salary and Benefits: $48,302-$60,438 NYS retirement and optional health, vision, and dental insurance

More than $300,000 Awarded to Local Libraries for Construction Upgrades

Senator Patty Ritchie announced the following local libraries will receive funding to assist their libraries with construction needs.  Congratulations to the North Country Library System member libraries listed below that were awarded State Aid for Library Construction funds for their construction projects!

Additional libraries in New York State received funding for their construction needs. Lauren Moore, Assistance Commissioner for Libraries and State Librarian, announced that the New York State Library in partnership with New York’s twenty-three (23) public library systems, has awarded $14 million in State Aid for Library Construction funds for 135 construction projects.
