Hay Memorial Library, serving the community of Sackets Harbor and the Town of Hounsfield, announces an opening for a Library Manager.
The Library Manager performs day-to-day, front-facing library operations, including but not limited to, placing holds for patrons, checking in and out materials, as well as organizing and maintaining the collection, preparing book orders, and keeping the library, vestibule, and rest rooms neat and orderly. In addition to supervising a small part-time staff, the manager coordinates marketing (posting to social media and website), performs data entry, creates reports, works with the Board of Trustees, and assists with volunteer development. The manager implements the vision for programming including craft programs, weekly story times, family and community programs.
Excellent communication and organizational skills and creativity are key, as well as the ability to work independently, and an ability to multi-task, and to work well in a team setting and complete tasks in a timely manner. Candidates should also be passionate about the library’s mission: It is the mission of Hay Memorial Library to provide free and open access to knowledge, cultural, educational, and artistic events, in a welcoming place where all can explore, collaborate, gather, and connect.
A two-year college degree is required, four-year undergraduate degree in a relevant field is preferred. The position is for a regular 30-hour work week, with alternating Saturday morning hours required. Occasional evening hours for programming should be anticipated.
