Nominations for the NCLS Annual Meeting Awards are now open! Each year at the NCLS Annual Meeting, we like to recognize those who have helped our member libraries go above and beyond. This year, we’re accepting nominations for the following awards:
NCLS Improvement Award: NCLS wants to recognize the progress our libraries have made with our Library Improvement Award, which will be presented at this year’s Annual Meeting. We want to hear about new partnerships, innovative library programs, successful budget campaigns, updated collections, technological improvements, building projects, and more! You can nominate any member library, including your own.
NCLS Library Champion Award: Library advocacy is a crucial component for success. NCLS wants to recognize exemplary contributions to library advocacy with our Library Champion award, which will be presented at this year’s Annual Meeting. We want to hear about advocacy efforts that have communicated the value of the library and contributed to securing vital sustainable funding for future success. You can nominate any library staff, trustee, Friend, or volunteer for this award.
NCLS Alchemy Award: NCLS wants to recognize the resourcefulness of our libraries with our brand-new Alchemy Award, which will be presented at this year’s Annual Meeting. Libraries are famously resourceful, making the most of every dollar, staff hour, and donation to provide the best possible service to their communities. Do you know a library that has used their limited resources to create pure gold? Tell us! You can nominate any member library, including your own.
The deadline for all nominations is Thursday, September 1, 2022. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Angela.
First time at the in-person Annual Meeting? After a brief welcome from NCLS board and staff, we’ll dive right into our keynote address, presented by AnnaLee Dragon, the new Executive Director of the New York Library Association (NYLA).
AnnaLee will give an overview of what NYLA does as an organization, with a focus on the importance of legislative advocacy for libraries of all sizes. AnnaLee will highlight tools and tips for everyday advocacy, offering best practices for crafting your library’s story in a compelling way from both trustee and staff perspectives.
After lunch, we’ll have an encore presentation of Board Meeting Theater, where our fearless cast will tackle best meeting practices, open meeting law, sticky library issues, and more!
The Annual Meeting will be held at the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel in Clayton. The last day to sign up for the NCLS Annual Meeting is Thursday, September 15. Sign up today!
